In astrology, every planet has places where it thrives—and places where it struggles to express itself cleanly.
There are four key ideas to understand:
- Rulership (Domicile) → where a planet is at home
- Detriment → the sign opposite its rulership, where it’s out of its element

Keep in mind that exaltation and fall don’t determine whether a placement is “good” or “bad”, they describe how naturally a planet’s energy can express itself.

- Detriment → stretched outside its usual mode
